New 'Scream' Trilogy Mapped Out
Kevin Williamson says new film will take place 10 years later
Kevin Williamson is scripting a new "Scream" trilogy and recently talked with MTV about the project.
"The fourth one is an ensemble," Williamson explained. "It'll take place right now, 10 years later, and it's going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. We'll have our three main characters, and we'll be introducing several more. We'll also be introducing a little group, a little ensemble of new castmembers. That'll take us through the next three."
Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette will return for "Scream 4." However, director Wes Craven has still not committed to a return to Woodsboro.
"Bob Weinstein [The Weinstein Company co-chairman] has talked to me, he's interested in me directing it," Craven said in an interview with Digital Spy earlier this year. "What I've said to Bob is I'm not closed to it, I'm not open to it, I'll be perfectly happy to read a script and tell him what I think."
