'Silent Hill' Sequel Moves Forward
Screenwriter Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida of Davis Films spearhead project
"Silent Hill" is set to receive a sequel from screenwriter Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida of Davis Films.
Based on the Konami video game, the 2006 film followed a woman (Radha Mitchell) who traveled to a desolate town to seek help for her ailing daughter only to find malevolent supernatural forces running rampant.
Christophe Gans directed the original film, but has not been named to return for the sequel despite the fact that Avary reportedly claimed in 2007 that he would not take on another trip to "Silent Hill" should Gans not return to the director's chair.
Davis Films will shoot the movie next year after "Resident Evil: Afterlife," which it's now prepping from writer and director Paul W.S. Anderson.
TriStar released the original "Silent Hill," and earned $47 million domestically. However, the studio has not indicated its involvement on the follow-up.
Avary, who worked with Quentin Tarantino on the script for "Pulp Fiction," is also penning the video game adaptation of "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" for Davis Films.
