'True Blood' - New World In My View
Series builds to what is sure to be a spectacular season finale!
This weeks episode of True Blood was jam packed with incredible moments from beginning to end. The first five minutes were enough to set any fan girls heart on fire, and Im not going to lie and say that I havent re-watched them a few times.
Bill, Sookie and Jason return to Bon Temps to find the town in shambles due to Mary-Anns influence. Oh yeah, shes also set up shop in Sookies house, which doesnt sit particularly well with Sookie.
On top of that, Jason felt a brave call to action this week, refusing to let anything happen to his town. As the loveable but goofy brother of Sookie, he selflessly put himself on the line for Sam even though hes not always that smart (as Sookie points out). He tricks the zombie townspeople that Mary-Ann has managed to hypnotize into doing her will by pretending to be the God they are luring to Bon Temps in a hilarious scene that ends with Sam shape-shifting his way out of the predicament.
We witnessed Lafayette and Lettie May trying to exorcize a demon from Tara, not knowing that Mary-Ann is the one thats done this to her. Lafayette shows his love for Tara, his cousin, and it appears that there is something deeper living inside him than just the V-loving, horny man that hes appeared to be from the beginning. Perhaps his captivity with the vampires has changed him for the better?
Interesting how last season it was Lettie May that was in this particular exorcism predicament, but really, who hasn't had that in their own family at one point or another? Now its Tara sitting in the chair. Runs in the family apparently!
Next week well get to see how furious Mary-Ann is with Jason and the gang for tricking her minions. Well get to see if Hoyts mother survives Jessicas fangs, and were going to meet an interesting new character that Bill has called upon. I wont dare ruin the surprise!
Since there are only two episodes in the season left, I imagine its going to be big.
What Worked
This amazing episode was filled with humor, suspense and terror from beginning to end. Hoyts mother was deliciously evil as one of Mary-Anns minions, and Jessicas turn for the worse may not leave his mom alive next episode. For women dealing with evil mother-in-laws, Im sure they can relate to their healthy relationship!
This show is clearly building to what is sure to be an incredible crescendo, with the whole town at stake. Two episodes left in this season, so get ready!
What Didnt Work
Its hard to find something bad in it, though one could suggest that its getting boring to see Sam keep shape-shifting his way out of things. Its a nifty little trick, but Im sure hes got something else up his sleeve?
