DollBites: 'Poltergeist' Joins Remake Train

PLUS NEWS ON: 'Underworld'; 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse'

MGM will reboot the "Poltergeist" franchise.

Vadim Perelman ("House of Sand and Fog") is attached the direct the film, which tells the story of a suburban home built over a haunted burial ground.

Juliet Snowden and Stiles White, the writing duo behind "Knowing" and "Boogeyman," scripted an early draft of the reboot. It's set for a Nov. 24, 2010 release.

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' adds to cast: Summit Entertainment has cast Catalina Sandino Moreno to play the vampire character of Maria in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

She is best-known for playing the title character in the indie drama "Maria Full of Grace." Her "Eclipse" role revolves around a woman who tries to create a newborn army of vampires, and recruits the Confederate soldier Jasper to her cause.

Based on the third of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling "Twilight" books, "Eclipse" opens in theaters June 20, 2010. It continues the story of Bella Swan's (Kristen Stewart) delicate relationship with vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and wolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).

Moreno joins an "Eclipse" ensemble that includes Jack Huston, Xavier Samuel and Bryce Dallas Howard as the villainous Victoria. The actress replaced Rachel Lefevre last month.

'Underworld' gets fourth film in January 2011: Sony's Screen Gems' "Underworld" franchise will receive a fourth film, which should hit theaters in January 2011. It will be shot in 3-D.

However, no announcement was made regarding the return of "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" stars Michael Sheen, Rhona Mitra and Bill Nighy, or former franchise stars Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman.

The studio was pleased with the performance of the prequel that opened earlier this year. The $35 million film earned $91.1 million worldwide, not counting DVD and Blu-ray sales. -- [ShockTillYouDrop]
