Vampiristic casting is working its way round Hollywood; "New Moon" has found its Jane, and now "Vampire Diaries" has found its Elena. According to Variety, Canadian actress Nina Dobrey has landed the leading role in the CW nosferatau series, "Vampire Diaries." She will be starring opposite Steve R. McQueen †grandson of the legendary “The Great Escape” actor, Steve McQueen †has been cast to star in the series. There is no word yet though on which of the main characters he will portray however it has been said that he will not bite into the role of one of the vampire brothers which means there may be a more human element to the supernatural series. Based on the novels by L.J. Smith, “The Vampire Diaries” features a teenage girl named Elena Gilbert who becomes the obsession of two vampires; one who is trying very hard to be normal, the other who is only too happy to accept his place on the food chain. Both of the brothers will compete for Elena’s soul and will also clash with the local residents of the town. The television series is being adapted by “Dawsons Creek” and “Scream” writer Kevin Williamson who is working on the script with former “Kyle XY” writer Julie Plec.
