Neeson: ‘After.Life’ Scary, Not Horrific

Former Jedi Knight Liam Neeson is making a foray in the world of horror with "After.Life," a movie revolving around the murky regions between life and death. But despite the morbid nature of the project, the actor insists it is not a horrific story. "We finished that before Christmas," Neeson told SciFi Wire. "It's not horrific. I'm a funeral director, and I'm preparing a body, which happens to be Christina Ricci's, and she opens her eyes. I tell her, 'You're dead.' She says, 'I'm not dead.' I say, 'You are dead.' So you're not sure if it's a kind of a supernatural thriller or if this guy is a mass murderer. That's basically it in a nutshell." The film itself looks to be riddled with ambiguity as the audience won't actually know if Neeson's character has the ability to help the dead in their transition or if he is actually a mass murderer covering his tracks. In addition to Neeson and Ricci, "After.Life" stars Justin Long, who is described as playing a pivotal role in the development of the story, and Neeson has nothing but praise for his work. "He's a wonderful young actor," Neeson added. "He plays Christina's boyfriend. He thinks she's maybe still alive. So there are three or four different genres in there." "After.Life" is released on Oct. 23. Digg It! Express yourself and be part of the news! Leave a comment below or join our rabid discussions on the SyBoards.
