It may be one of the more unusual comic books, but pretty soon “Priest” will be one of the more unusual horror movies, with special effects guru Scott Charles Stewart directing. The project will mark Stewart’s third directed feature film, with his apocalyptic horror “Legion” currently in post production and eyeing a 2010 release. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael De Luca and Stars Road Entertainment's Josh Donen are producing for Screen Gems with Mitchell Peck producing. “Priest” is set in a devastated world where after centuries of conflict between Humanity and the Vampire brood, a warrior priest turns his back on the church to hunt down the vampires who have run off with his niece. The original comic book was published by TokyoPop and has earned a solid following for its dark and violent vision of tomorrow. This is apparently not the first time that the project has been attempted as director Andrew Douglas was previously tapped to helm the movie starring Gerard Butler and Steven Strait however those plans fell through and the proposed “Priest” adaptation has since been in limbo.
