“Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins†has only reached the trailer phase, but already its sequel has gone into production and is eyeing a 2011 release.
The news was apparently announced at the Dubai International Film Festival, and the movie is being propelled forward as a result of the positive attention being received from the Warner Brothers (who are distributing the film), hardcore fans and the media following the release of the recent trailer.
Halcyon Co. (privately financed, media development, production and financing company) are developing the trilogy, and both executives Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek were originally planning on holding back on the announcement until “The Future Begins†had proven itself in theaters. After the press though, they have bumped forward their schedule.
"We feel the time is now to start shaping the next part of this," Kubicek said, according to Bloody Disgusting.
“Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins†is scheduled to be released May 22, 2009.
