Shauna Macdonald reprises her role of Sarah, the unfortunate spelunker, for the continuation of one of the horror genre's latest creature features. Recently renamed, "The Descent: Part 2" is expected to be released in the U.S. sometime in 2009, will be directed by Jon Harris. "Part 2" picks up with a severely psychologically scarred Sarah returning to the cave where she and five other women were tormented by hostile humanoid inhabitants. Still unable to speak due to trauma, she nevertheless accompanies a rescue team and things quickly go very wrong. A variety of images have been released to the web showing Crawlers, the latest villains in the movie, and more recently Bloody Disgusting have posted a new image from the movie. The film is being released through Lionsgate and no official release date has yet been announced. Original director Neil Marshall will return in an executive producer capacity but will not be directing the project. No reason has been given for the sudden renaming of the movie.
