‘Twilight’ Could Spawn More Movies

It's open house on vampire adaptations, with “Underworld 3” in the works and a new vampire-based series poised to commence its run on HBO. Not only that, Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” books series is being adapted for the big screen. And according to the director, if all goes well there will be more. “Everyone here is trying to make the movie the best it can be,” Catherine Hardwicke told Empire Magazine. “When I first read the book, I didn’t know anything about [the fanbase]. I just loved it and was excited about it; I was at the same level as the fans, in a way. It wasn’t intimidating because I was excited about it for the same reasons they are.” Like the original novel, the movie is told through the eyes of Bella Swan, a typical 14 year old girl who moves to a new town with her estranged father. She then falls for a boy at school who turns out to be a 108 year old vampire and that is when her life really transforms. But with the nature of the vampires, Hardwicke embarked on a quest to locate an actress that could still pass for a teenager at school who also possessed the maturity and weightiness to give the project some depth. Her quest eventually ended when she settled on the talents of Kristen Stewart. “Vampires are sexy,” she explained. “They’re not like creepy old zombies with flesh hanging off them, they’re sexy; that whole neck thing, you want one to come up and bite you in your most erogenous zone. “The goal is to make this one so good we get to make the others.” Digg It!
