Anton Yelchin ("Alpha Dog") talked to reporters about his role in the upcoming "Terminator Salvation." Yelchin will play a young Kyle Reese, the original protector of Sarah Connor in the 1984 original film.
Drawing his inspiration from Michael Biehn's original portrayal, Yelchin studied his alter-ego closely.
"Every little thing to me in that film said to me, 'OK, that's a part of this guy," he said. "There's the Kyle Reese that's obsessed with the Sarah Connor picture. Why is he so obsessed, you know? ... He doesn't talk about her like a sexual object; he talks about her like this woman that he's so in love with ... I looked at that and said, 'God, this guy grew up and never had any relationships with girls. What does that say about him, you know?' Look at how angry he is here, what does that say? There's just so much, there's just such a vast wealth of info to go through."
"Terminator Salvation" is slated for a May 22, 2009 opening and stars Christian Bale as John Connor.
