The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Wesley Strick, known for penning the horror classic "Arachnophobia" and the 2004 video-game adaptation of "Doom" has been signed to bring the new Freddy Krueger tale to life ... just in time for its 25th anniversary in 2009.
In the film, Nancy Thompson who lives on Elm Street finds herself tormented by Freddy Krueger in a never ending nightmare. This new adaptation will keep the same setting, but will try to bring more to Krueger as a character.
There is no word yet on a producer or director for the project, however during a previous interview, "Friday The 13th" producer Michael Bay hinted that taking on the "Elm Street" isn't entirely out of the question. Bay even went on to confirm that taking on that franchise is "worth every penny."
