‘The X-Files’ More Intense, Challenging

Returning to their paranormal antics after a 10-year sabbatical seems to have been quite a challenge for stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson ... mostly because of the cold. "It's hard," Duchovny told SciFi Wire. "The logistics of it is, if you're out in the middle of nowhere, and you're running around in the freezing rain and the snow, you don't get a chance to go off and warm up in your trailer, because you're seeing so much [of the scenery in the frame], your trailer is on the other side of town. So you are stuck in clothes that are not fitting for the environment for a long time. So, yeah, it's a pain in the ass, but you just suck it up, and it's not going to be that long. Your feet are cold, ... and your ass is cold, and your hands are cold and your muscles are cold. But you suck it up." And although his co-star didn't have the same kind of intense action scenes to work with, Anderson also found the movie a little more demanding than originally expected. "I think one of the physically more challenging aspects for me at the time were that there were a couple of scenes where we had a lot of dialogue, and when you're in that kind of weather, and the wind is slightly blowing and the snow is coming down and your lips, ... actually, ... they do freeze," she explained. "And there were a couple of scenes that were reminiscent of the pilot. There was a scene in the pilot where we were in this pouring forest rain that's freezing, and I'm screeching at him about something or another, and it felt kind of like that. ... It felt very much like that. ... What was reminiscent of that was the fact that my mouth wouldn't work." The details of this film are still be kept under wraps, however writer Chris Carter is promising a standalone adventure that harkens back to the creepy origins of the series. Even with the added scare-factor, the final product is apparently stunning. "When you see it on film, though, it's just gorgeous," Duchovny said. "You look at those big snowflakes coming down in the movie, it's just, ... it's worth it, you know? You have to know that when you're putting up with it that, if you're experiencing discomfort, then it's probably going to look pretty good on screen."
