Val Kilmer and Martha MacIsaac have joined the cast of "The Thaw," a horror film directed by Mark A. Lewis. In the film, global warming has caused the polar ice caps to melt, releasing a wooly mammoth corpse from its icy tomb. Hungry polar bears gobble it up, but there's just one problem: the mammoth was infected with a parasite. Now, a research team led by Evelyn Kruipen (MacIssac) and her father, Dr. Kruipen (Kilmer) must find a way to stop the parasite from spreading and infecting the world. According to co-producer Mary Anne Waterhouse, "It's more horror than sci-fi. It's much more of a traditional scary movie. We wanted to make an entertainment film, but we also want to make socially relevant films." Filming is expected to begin June 16^th in Vancouver, British Columbia. MacIsaac recently finished filming her role in the Rogue Pictures remake of "The Last House on the Left."
