CBS may have canceled "Moonlight," but rabid fans of the vampire series are not letting go without a fight.
Fans sponsored an ad that ran in The Hollywood Reporter on May 21 and in Variety on May 22, thanking the cast and crew and demonstrating the show's popularity and potential to other networks.
The first convention devoted to the series, MoonlightCon, takes place in Los Angeles over the Memorial Day weekend and many plan to attend a support rally outside the home of Silver Pictures, which produces the series with Warner Bros. This has been described as a rally to show support for Warner Bros. and not a protest of CBS. However, the protests against the network are coming through loud and clear over the Internet via fansites.
Two sites devoted to saving the staked show are Moonlight Online and Moonlight United.
Fans who are encouraging SciFi Channel to pick up their beloved show are asked to do so by snailmail rather than email, as the scifiwire addresses are intended for news tips and comments only. Anything regarding programming or policies should be sent to: 21st Floor, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112.
Legions of "Moonlight" fans have already expressed how deep their devotion to their favorite vampire goes by organizing a blood drive in his honor, inspiring star Alex O'Loughlin to become a spokesperson for the Red Cross.
