Fans of the Epic Games title "Gears Of War" feared that their big screen adaptation was another casualty of the writers strike. Not so it appears, because producer Wyck Godfrey is now looking for a director.
"We've got our script on and a director we're about to attach," Godfrey said, according to ComingSoon.net. "We'll hopefully make that early next year for the summer of 2010."
In "Gears Of War," the Earth lies in ruin with cities crumbling after the Human race is cornered by the nightmare of the Locust Horde - creatures that are hell bent on achieving their goals with an almost infinte supply of soliders. Following the aftermath of what became known as "Emergence Day," human survivors gathered at Jacinto Plateau to make a stand. Once their though, soldier Marcux Fenix defied his orders to save his father ... he was too late and as a result charged with 40 years in a maximum security prison. But with a war raging on the outside, the human coalition is forced to re-inlist him and countless others into the Corps.
The original video game, which launched as an exclusive Xbox 360 title, has been dubbed as one of the consoles "must have" games and has already sold 3 million copies worldwide with a sequel now in the works.
The script was drafted by Stuart Beattie, who worked closely with lead game designer Cliff Bleszinski to ensure that the final adaptation is as close to the digital adventure as possible.
