Jason Voorhees may have missed his chance to appear on “Supernatural,” but he couldn’t escape one of the show’s stars forever. Jared Padalecki †who plays Sam Winchester on the series †is in final negotiations to star in the upcoming remake of “Friday the 13th.” Michael Bay, whose production company is behind the remake, will direct and Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (known for their work on “Freddy vs. Jason”) have written the screenplay for the project. Padalecki’s character will investigate the grisly bloodbath that is Crystal Lake. Padalecki is no stranger to the horror genre. Aside from his current role as a hunter in “Supernatural,” he has also starred in the horror films “Cry Wolf” and “House of Wax.” "Supernatural" series creator Erik Kripke had announced earlier this season that Jason Voorhees would make an appearance in the episode “Dream a Little Dream of Me,” however that idea was eventually axed. The plan was for a character resembling Jason to appear in a dream, but due to rights issues the appearance was shelved. Now, however, it seems Padalecki will get his shot to go head to head with the iconic horror villain. “Friday the 13th” is slated to hit theaters Feb. 13, 2009.
