It is expected to be one of the genres most interesting remakes, but as of this week "The Wolf Man" is flying without a pilot as director Mark Romanek has left the project.
Romanek is the mastermind behind the Robin Williams thriller "One Hour Photo" and his involvement with "The Wolf Man" certainly excited a few movie-goers so why did he leave the movie? Well, according to Deadline Hollywood Daily it all came down to money. No, he wasn't demanding a larger chunk of the films profits ... the director just wasn't comfortable working to the $100 million budget.
"He's a purist, an artiste, an exquisite craftsman, but he just had a budget schedule that he couldn't accommodate," an insider told the site.
The site didn't include any details on what kind of a budget Romanek wanted for the film, however $100 million is a rather large sum for a genre movie to work with. On average most horror remakes work with $40 million or less. A new director is currently being sought for the film which is scheduled for release Feb. 2009.
