The CW Eyes Long Future For 'Supernatural'

Network's president says the series will return

The is “no question” that The CW's "Supernatural" is returning for an eighth season, according to Mark Pedowitz, the network's president.

Pedowitz expressed his support for the series Monday during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif. And he hopes to see stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki signed aboard for further adventures.

“The guys are great," Pedowitz said. "There’s always conversations that happen. I am a big 'Supernatural' fan.

“I hope it stays on as long as I’m still here.”

In addition, Pedowitz also confirmed the return of Misha Collins as angel Castiel, who will appear in at least eight episodes.

In Season 8, Jeremy Carver will serve as co-runner of the series alongside Robert Singer. Carver was a co-producer on "Supernatural" during the 2009-10 season before leaving to take on executive producing and co-showrunning duties on Syfy’s "Being Human" alongside his wife Anna Fricke.

"Supernatural" follows the high-stakes struggle of two brothers, Sam (Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Ackles), who hunt and destroy monsters and the forces of darkness.
