Chiller’s all-new original film "Dead Souls" has kicked off production in Canterbury, Conn.

Directed by Colin Theys, the film is based on the novel by Bram Stoker Award finalist Michael Laimo. John Doolan, who collaborated with Theys on such films as "Banshee!!!" and "Alien Opponent," penned the script.

Chiller will air the film in October.

"Dead Souls" centers on Johnny Petrie, who on his 18th birthday learns that he was adopted when he inherits a farm in Maine. He moves there only to discover horrifying details of his father’s questionable teachings as a preacher and his family's death during a ritual. Meanwhile, a decades-old force trapped in the home has begun to stir.

Synthetic Cinema International has tasked Andrew Gernhard and Zach O’Brien to produce.

The film stars Jesse James ("The Amityville Horror," "The Flyboys") as Johnny, Bill Moseley ("Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2," "The Devil's Rejects"), Magda Apanowicz ("The Butterfly Effect"), Noah Fleiss ("Brick"), Jaiden Kaine ("Hellbenders") and Geraldine Hughes ("Rocky Balboa," "Gran Torino").

Offering a broad selection of original movies and specials, the cable network Chiller specializes in genre films, international programming ("Afterlife," "Apparitions"), documentary and reality shows ("Fear Factor"), anthology series ("Masters of Horror") and such iconic television series as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "The Twilight Zone" and "Tales from the Darkside."
