'World War Z' May Evolve Into Trilogy
Paramount Pictures' adaption of Max Brooks' zombie tale opens Dec. 21
"World War Z" co-star Mireille Enos is indicating that Paramount Pictures' zombie film may develop into an epic trilogy.
Set to hit theaters Dec. 21, the film is an adaption of Max Brooks' zombie novel with "Quantum of Solace" director Marc Forster ("Quantum of Solace") at the helm.
Enos ("Big Love," The Killing") said that from the beginning the project was ripe for a trilogy treatment.
"That was the hope, that if the first one turned out the way we all anticipate, that it would be great to turn it into a trilogy," Enos told E! Online. "It's exciting. It's like zombies are the new vampires. It's taking over.
"But somebody said to me this movie might end the zombie genre because, after this, what else is there to do? It's huge!"
The post-apocalyptic tale centers on a United Nations' investigation 10 years after a devastating zombie outbreak.
Enos plays Karin Lane, the wife of Gerard, an investigator with the United Nations played by Brad Pitt. Also cast is James Badge Dale, who plays a soldier intent on raising awareness of the growing zombie threat.
Forster is working from a script penned by Matthew Michael Carnahan ("The Kingdom," "State of Play") and J. Michael Straczynski ("Thor," Babylon 5").
Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Colin Wilson are serving as producers; Graham King and Tim Headington will executive produce.
Brooks is the son of director Mel Brooks.
