Darren Lynn Bousman directs remake of Charles Kaufman's 1980 film

Anchor Bay Films will serve as the North American distributor for Darren Lynn Bousman's remake of the 1980 film "Mother's Day," according to Deadline.

Scripted by Scott Milam with Bousman ("Repo! The Genetic Opera," "Saw II-IV") taking the directing reins, the film follows three outlaw brothers who set out for revenge after learning that their mother has lost the family home in a foreclosure.

“With Saw’s Darren Lynn Bousman at the helm and a cast featuring DeMornay, Ashmore and Woll, 'Mother’s Day' has an unbeatable horror pedigree,” said Kevin Kasha, Anchor Bay executive vice-president of worldwide acquisitions and co-productions. “We’re thrilled to add this chiller to the Anchor Bay Films roster of terror classics.”

The film, which is is loosely based on the 1980 Troma Entertainment flick by Charles Kaufman, is reportedly poised for a May 2012 release.

"Mother's Day" stars Rebecca De Mornay, Shawn Ashmore, Jaime King, Patrick Flueger, Warren Kole, Deborah Ann Woll, Matt O'Leary and Briana Evigan.
