'World War Z' Eyes James Badge Dale
Actor may join Paramount Pictures' adaption of Max Brooks' zombie tale
“The Pacific” star James Badge Dale may join Paramount Pictures' adaption of Max Brooks' novel "World War Z," according to Variety.
Set to start production in August with Marc Forster ("Quantum of Solace") at the helm, "World War Z" is a post-apocalyptic tale centered on a United Nations' investigation 10 years after a devastating zombie outbreak.
Dale would take on the role of an American soldier intent on raising awareness of the growing zombie threat.
The film's cast already includes Brad Pitt as Gerand, an investigator with the United Nations, and Mireille Enos ("Big Love," The Killing"), who is taking on her first major-studio role starring as Gerard's wife Karin Lane.
Matthew Michael Carnahan ("The Kingdom," "State of Play") and J. Michael Straczynski ("Thor," Babylon 5") penned the screenplay.
Paramount had initially shied away from the project's $130 million budget, but later brought aboard several risk-sharing partners, including David Ellison's Skydance Productions.
Brooks is the son of director Mel Brooks.
