'The Secret Circle' Headed To The CW
Network adds witch series to its fall schedule
The CW has added author L.J. Smith's witch tale "The Secret Circle" to its 2011-12 schedule, according to Zap2it.
Kevin Williamson, co-creator and executive producer of "The Vampire Diaries," is co-writing the show's pilot with Andrew Miller. They are executive producing the project along with Elizabeth Craft, Sarah Fain, Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo.
"The Secret Circle" follows a shy teenage girl ("Life Unexpected" star Britt Robertson) who moves to a new town and who learns that she is a witch. As a member of a secret coven, she soon becomes the key that will unlock an ancient battle between good and evil.
The series also stars Thomas Dekker ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"), Natasha Henstridge ("Species"), Phoebe Tonkin, Shelley Hennig and Gale Harold.
Alloy Entertainment, WBTV and CBS TV Studios are producing.
Williamson has enjoyed a healthy workload recently. In addition to spearheading "The Vampire Diaries," his film "Scream 4," directed by Wes Craven ("A Nightmare on Elm Street"), hit theaters in April. He is also penning "The Bedroom Window," based on the novel "The Witnesses" by Anne Holden. It was previously adapted for the screen in 1987.
