'Blood Of The Innocent' Secures Funding
Jack the Ripper will hunt Dracula's brides in upcoming horror flick
"Blood of the Innocent" has received the financial backing of Inferno Entertainment, which is joining Circle of Confusion to spearhead the horror project, according to Variety.
Based on a four-issue comic book series published in 1985, the film is set in the Victorian era and will follow a conflict between Jack the Ripper and Dracula. The adaption has been in development since last year.
"The Crazies" director Breck Eisner is attached the helm the film. He will will work from a script by Bill Marsilii ("Deja Vu"), who is developing a pitch in which Jack the Ripper saves the world by slaying Dracula's brides.
David Engel, Stephen Emery and Ksana Golod will produce.
In addition to "Blood of the Innocent," Circle of Confusion has developed other comic book properties for television, including AMC's hit zombies series "The Walking Dead" and "Powers," which is based on Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's graphic novel about a pair of detectives who solve cases involving people with superpowers. "Powers" was recently snagged by FX Network.
The comic series "Blood of the Innocent" was penned by Rickey Shanklin and Mark Wheatley, featuring art from Marc Hempel and Wheatley.
