'Zombies Vs. Robots' Set For Showdown
IDW's comic will be adapted as 'Inherit the Earth' by 'The Burrowers' writer J.T. Petty
Riding the undead craze, IDW's "Zombies Vs. Robots" is now headed for the big screen, according to Deadline.
J.T. Petty ("The Burrowers") is penning the script, which has been renamed "Inherit the Earth" and is based on the 2006 comic from the Eisner Award-nominated writing duo Ashley Wood and Chris Ryall.
"Inherit the Earth" will center on a young girl -- the last survivor on Earth -- who is protected by robots that seek to save mankind through cloning. Meanwhile, hordes of intelligent zombies threaten to derail the robot's efforts.
Platinum Dunes, Circle of Confusion and IDW will spearhead the project with Michael Bay ("Transformers"), Brad Fuller ("A Nightmare on Elm Street"), Andrew Form, Dave Alpert and Rick Jacobs producing.
Ted Adams ("30 Days of Night") will executive produce.
IDW's "World War Robot," written by Wood and T.P. Louise, is also being developed as a feature by Jerry Bruckheimer ("Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl"). The film will follow a small band of humans who fight a running battle with robots across the Earth, moon and Mars.
