Jesse McCartney Joins 'Locke & Key'
Joe Hill's IDW graphic novel heads to Fox
Actor-singer Jesse McCartney is joining the cast of Fox's supernatural pilot "Locke & Key," according to Deadline.
Landing the final key role on the project, McCartney ("Greek," "Summerland") will play the male lead Ty. The part will allow McCartney to exercise his musical background since the character seeks solace in music after his father's tragic death.
Adapting Joe Hill's IDW graphic novel, 20th Television is launching the pilot based on a script by Josh Friedman ("Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles"). Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman ("Fringe," "Star Trek") will produce, along with Dreamworks TV.
"Locke & Key" follows Nina Locke (Miranda Otto) and her three children who return to an old family home in Massachusetts, only to be hounded by an evil entity.
The pilot, directed Mark Romanek ("One Hour Photo"), also stars Nick Stahl ("Carnivàle"), Sarah Bolge, Skylar Gaertner.
Fox is expected to make a decision in May about adding the series to its Fall schedule.
Hill -- the son of author Stephen King -- kicked off the comic series in 2008 and has since earned several Eisner nominations.
