Dimension Goes Lovecraft For 'The Home'
Monstrous nightmares lurk in Kristoffer Aaron Morgan's upcoming film
Dimension Films has acquired director Kristoffer Aaron Morgan‘s horror tale "The Home," according to /Film.
The movie, penned by Eric Vespe from a story by Morgan, is touted as a character driven, atmospheric, twisted creature flick inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft.
"The Home" centers on a firefighter who is nearly killed during a failed rescue that leaves him physically and emotionally scarred. To recuperate, he is taken to a secluded nursing home where the elderly resident's apparent delusions are actually the result of twisted, monstrous nightmares that lurk within the home itself.
Set to lens in Austin, Texas, the film stars Brian Cox ("The Bourne Identity"), Ed Asner ("Up"), Louis Gossett Jr. ("Jaws 3D"), Cloris Leachman ("Young Frankenstein"), Louise Fletcher ("One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest") and Fionnula Flanagan ("Lost").
Voltage Pictures will help spearhead the project, with Elizabeth Avellan ("Sin City," "Predators") serving as producer and Elijah Wood ("The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring") holding co-producing duties. KNB Effects will manage the practical and creature effects.
Peter Jackson ("The Hobbit") has reportedly campaigned to help the project launch and provided notes that were incorporated into the script.
Dimension has not confirmed whether "The Home" will receive a theatrical or home video release.
