McG Makes Move To Play 'Ouija'

'Terminator Salvation' director may helm big-scale adaption of Parker Brothers' board game

McG is in negotiations to direct Universal Pictures' adventure film "Ouija," based on the popular board game by Parker Brothers, according to Deadline.

"Ouija," penned by "Tron: Legacy" writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, follows Peter Berg's "Battleship" as the next Hasbro branded property to move into production. Directors for the big-scale movie have been circling it since October.

Production will begin by the summer to meet a Nov. 12, 2012 release.

In an interview with Blastr last year, producer Brad Fuller said the film will be "a huge movie. That's a big, big, big thing. ... It's more of a, like, 'Pirates of the Caribbean' adventure story, with a Ouija board at the center of it."

Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir will produce the adaption along with Platinum Dunes partners Fuller, Michael Bay and Andrew Form.

"Ouija" made its debut in 1966, selling over 12 million copies for Parker Brothers. Hasbro acquired the game in 1991.

McG ("Terminator Salvation") is currently in post-production on the Fox comedy "This Means War," which stars Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine.
