Showtime's 'Dexter' Set For Season 6
Network enjoys strong viewer interest in the serial-killer series
Dexter Morgan will continue to pile up bodies for a sixth season on Showtime, according to E! Online.
Set for a one-season renewal, the hit serial-killer series "Dexter" returns with no sign of reining in the bloodletting.
Although Showtime has not issued a confirmation, a green light appears likely considering the show's growing popularity. In fact, a seventh season may be in the cards too.
"Dexter" attracted 2.54 million viewers last week, which was just shy of the series' high of 2.57 million set by the Season 4 finale.
The one snag beyond Season 6 for Showtime are expiring contracts involving some of the show's cast. New contracts would be required if the show lands a seventh season.
The series follows a serial killer (Michael C. Hall) who holds a job as a Miami police forensics specialist while quenching his thirst for the kill by hunting criminals who he believes have escaped justice.
The Season 5 finale is set to air Dec. 12.
Season 6 is expected to premiere in September 2011.
