According to the Reuters news service, the sequel to 2004’s franchise collision was bested by Walt Disney’s “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” which accumulated and $13.7 million on Christmas Day, adding to the existing box office takings that are now approaching the $65 million mark. The main competition for “Aliens Vs. Predator” however was expected to be “The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep” from Sony Pictures. That film sank to the bottom of Loch Ness when it moved into ninth place with a gross $2.4 million. Will Smith’s vampire horror "I Am Legend" maintained second placed at the box office and has now crossed the $150 million line as it attracted an additional $9.8 million on Christmas Day.
