Dream Team Unites For 'Psycho Killer'
Eli Roth has assembled a stellar team for the upcoming genre thriller
Eli Roth will again collaborate with The Last Exorcism cohort Eric Newman for a new thriller called Psycho Killer, according to Variety.
Scripted by Andrew Kevin Walker (Seven), the film will be the directorial debut for Gavin Polone, who produced Zombieland. Roth (Hostel) and Newman (Slither) will produce in association with StudioCanal.
The story follows a serial killer who kills a Nebraska state trooper. The patrolmans wife, who is also an officer, decides to hunt the killer down. The first part of the movie will follow the killer, and the remainder will tell the story of both characters, according to Polone.
Shooting will begin in Michigan in the spring.
StudioCanal executive Ron Halpern said the producers are seeking a female lead that is known, but not a huge star. He also described the picture as "a bigger movie, not a 'found footage' film," and as an "elevated, uncompromised, R-rated thriller."
"When people read the name 'Psycho Killer' from the creators of 'Seven' and 'Hostel,' they know they are in for an intense ride, but one that will be smart and original," he added.
