If you are a fan of the vampire saga “Underworld,” then 2008 may have a few interesting surprises coming your way as the stars from the series have signed up the third installment in the franchise, “Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans.” According to Bloody-Disgusting, both Bill Nighy and Shane Brolly have signed up for the prequel film and will star alongside Michael Sheen and Rhona Mitra who have already been announced as returning. Unlike the previous films, “Rise of the Lycans” will be set completely in the Dark Ages and will feature the beginning of the war between the vampires and their werewolf slaves, the Lycans. Production is slated to start in mid-January and will take place in Auckland, New Zealand. The script was written by Danny McBride who also wrote and produced the previous films. “Rise of the Lycans” will be directed by special effects wizard Patrick Tatopoulos.
