'Underworld 4' Signs Kate Beckinsale
Actress will return as the vampire Death Dealer
Kate Beckinsale will reprise her role as assassin-vampire Selene in "Underworld 4," which will lens in early 2011 in Vancouver, Canada.
Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment are currently seeking a director, and are also looking for an actress to play Selene's daughter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
John Hlavin (""The Shield") penned the script, with J. Michael Straczynski ("Babylon 5," "Ninja Assassin") providing revisions.
The successful vampire and werewolf franchise launched Beckinsale into the Hollywood spotlight in 2003, with the original "Underworld" grossing more than $300 million worldwide. She returned as Selene in the 2006 sequel "Underworld: Evolution," but did participate in the 2009 prequel "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans," staring Rhona Mitra ("The Gates").
Len Wiseman, who directed the first two films, will produce along with Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi.
"Underworld 4" is scheduled to hit theaters Jan. 20, 2012.
