'Shark Night 3D' Brings More Underwater Thrills
Cast assembles as film prepares to shoot in early September
Now that piranhas have enjoyed a bite from the box office, "Shark Night 3D" is assembling its cast and preparing to lens in early September.
"Snakes on a Plane" and "The Final Destination" director David R. Ellis will helm the film, which is based on a script by Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes ("Assy McGee").
"Shark Night 3D" centers on a group of vacationers who experience shark attacks at a lake house in Louisiana's Gulf area. They soon realize that several local residents have orchestrated the attacks as part of a sinister scheme.
Joining the cast are Sinqua Walls ("Friday Night Lights"), Joel David Moore ("Avatar"), Chris Carmack ("The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations") and Alyssa Diaz ("Southland").
Walls will play a Tulane University football player who plans to marry his college sweetheart (Diaz).
Moore will provided comic relief as a socially awkward guy who models himself after Brad Pitt.
Carmack's character was scarred in a boating accident, and is the ex-boyfriend of the film's female lead, which has not been cast.
Mike Fleiss is producing "Shark Night 3D" along with his Next Films partner Chris Briggs and Lynette Howell of Silverwood Films.
