Welcome To The New Rabid Doll!
Our redesign is still under construction, but you should experience great changes already
Welcome to the new Rabid Doll!
Over the last several months, our BlipNetwork design team -- led by creative director Shane Churchman and chief technology officer Nick Chase -- have been working on bringing you a new and improved Airlock Alpha, Rabid Doll and Inside Blip.
The idea was to make the pages not only look better, but to give you far more options -- like the ability to find related stories instantly, to comment directly on stories (without having to go to a separate message board), to see what we're Tweeting, and more.
Our old design was pretty good, but it was something that was put together in a couple of weeks rather than several months that designs like this are usually needed for. The BlipNetwork sold the "SyFy" name to NBC Universal, and we had to launch Airlock Alpha. Instead of just slapping our new name in the spot of "SyFy Portal," we decided that with a new brand, we had to have a new look, and Shane worked hard to get the pages we have enjoyed for the past 18 months up and working.
But even Shane knew that's not what we wanted to have long-term, and he had been working on this redesign -- dubbed "Project Pixel Envy" -- since the beginning of this year.
As you explore the sites, you may find some things that need to be adjusted or changed, or maybe not finished yet. Our apologies for any inconvenience. This is still a work in progress, and may take a couple of weeks to iron out. Our goal was to roll this out in time for San Diego Comic-Con this week, and I am very proud of our staff for making that deadline.
We will have many more adjustments and such to make in the coming days, especially those that we can now see that the pages are live.
Let us know what you think! Like it? Hate it? Suggestions? Something that needs to be tweaked? Just e-mail me at mhinman@airlockalpha.com and we'll try to address it right away.
In the meantime, look for our extensive coverage from San Diego Comic-Con beginning tomorrow right here on the BlipNetwork!
