'Night of the Demons' Release Date Set

Remake of Kevin Tenney's 80's flick conjures punk-rock mania

Director Adam Gierasch's "Night of the Demons" remake is aiming for a Sept. 23 theatrical release.

The film was poised to receive a theatrical release last October via Seven Arts Distribution.

"Night of the Demons," scripted by Gierasch and Jace Anderson ("La Terza Madre," "Toolbox Murders"), is based on the classic 80's flick by Kevin Tenney ("Witchboard"), which birthed the demon villain Angela. She would go on to terrorize audiences through two sequels.

Gierasch hopes audiences will embrace the remake's rambunctious attitude.

I love it," he said in an interview with Dread Central. "Its got punk-rock and big-breasted chicks being chased by demons -- what more do you want? Its everything that makes life worth living. I think its just super fun.

The soundtrack is awesome, and its all the way through the whole movie, too. We did fight scenes to punk-rock songs, demon attacks to punk-rock songs -- I describe it as party horror.

Synopsis: Angela Feld is throwing the Halloween party to end all Halloween parties at the infamous Broussard Mansion in New Orleans, where dark events transpired almost a century ago. But when the packed party gets busted by the police, Angela and her friends Maddie, Lily, Suzanne, Colin, Dex and Jason are the only ones left behind. Soon Colin and Angela make a grisly discovery in the basement and inexplicable events start to take place. With the mansion gates mysteriously locked, the seven find themselves trapped for the night ... and soon they're fighting ancient demons for their very souls.

"Night of the Demons" stars Diora Baird, Shannon Elizabeth, Bobbi Sue Luther, Monica Keena, Jonathan Beach, Michael Copon, Tiffany Shepis and Edward Furlong.
