Joel Kastelberg and Moonstone Entertainment's Etchie Stroh are re-launching the werewolf franchise "The Howling."
Joe Nimziki, a former studio marketing executive, will make his feature directorial debut for the remake titled "The Howling: Reborn." He will also pen the script; plot details are under wraps.
The film is scheduled to shoot in February for a Halloween release.
Joe Dante directed the original "The Howling" from a script by John Sayles. That film was released in 1981 and produced six sequels. Dee Wallace-Stone starred as a broadcast journalist whose near fatal encounter with a serial killer lands her in rehabilitation center whose inhabitants turn out be werewolves.
Bob Pringle and Steve Lane, who served as executive producers on the original, will also executive produce "The Howling: Reborn."
Kastelberg's credits include "Bodies, Rest and Motion," "Mr. Jealousy," "Sleep With Me"; Stroh's include "Cookie's Fortune," "Afterglow," "Dancing at the Blue Iguana."
