'Scream 4' May Be The Death Of Sidney
Kevin Williamson gives new details on his popular franchise
Kevin Williamson recently provided more details on "Scream 4," and indicated Neve Campbell's character Sidney may not survive the sequel.
Campbell joins David Arquette and Courteney Cox for a new trilogy penned by Williamson. But will her luck finally expire like that of so many returning heroines in past horror films?
"The thing about 'Scream 4' is that there are a lot of twists and turns, so I can't promise anything," Williamson said in an interview with the New York Post. "There are a lot of moving pieces, so we'll see -- but if you're a 'Scream' fan, I think you're really going to like it."
Since the last "Scream" film, horror films have changed, and this new sequel will be no different.
"I've [included] manga comics, Asian ghost girl movies, there's some PG-13 horror movies in there, vampire movies, M. Night Shyamalan movies and torture porn movies, even though they've come and gone," Williamson explained.
One of Williamson's key concerns is to not let the humor run rampant in "Scream 4."
"You have to be careful because 'Scary Movie' spoofed these films, so one of the things I'm excited about with 'Scream 4' is that, while we do lampoon and send up the genre, [we] make it incredibly scary," he said. "That's first and foremost."
