'The Reincarnation of Peter Proud' Gets Remake
David Fincher will direct a new adaptation of the Max Ehrlich novel
David Fincher will helm a remake of "The Reincarnation of Peter Proud," based on the novel by Max Ehrlich.
Teaming with writer Andrew Kevin Walker, Fincher will place a contemporary spin on the story for Columbia Pictures. Fincher will produce with Michael De Luca.
Walker and Fincher respectively wrote and directed the 1995 thriller "Seven."
The original "Peter Proud," directed by J. Lee Thompson (1962's "Cape Fear," "Battle for the Planet of the Apes"), was released in 1975, and starred Michael Sarrazin and Margot Kidder.
The film centers on Dr. Peter Proud, a college professor who experiences recurring dreams and nightmares that may be images of a past life. He decides to investigate the visions, discovering a woman and her daughter are the keys to his mystery.
Columbia president Matt Tolmach, who worked with Fincher on "Panic Room," is overseeing the remake along with Rachel O'Connor.
